What is a circle of friends?

Anne who has been supported by Inclusion Glasgow for a number of years has such a circle and tells her story.

Anne

When I moved into my own home, it was difficult to make friends because I didn't know anybody that lived in the community.

I now have lots of friends. I have a circle of friends who are like my family.

My whole circle of friends and I meet together every six weeks and we see each other in between.

We also go away for weekends and days out. I have been in Stirling, London and on the Waverley.

I like having family and friends around me and lots to do.

If you are supported by Inclusion Glasgow and interested in creating a Circle then you should talk to us about it or perhaps you would like to be a part of someone’s circle of friends.

What is a circle of friends?

A circle of friends is a group of people who have come together but who do not necessarily known each other before. They want to befriend a person with learning difficulties probably meeting about every six weeks; this might be at someone’s house or at a restaurant. Likes and dislikes of all members of the circle taken into account. A circle might host a party, set up a knitting bee, go out for a drink, a drive or sit and chat.
